Why is my gate motor beeping?

• All Centurion Smart gate motors operate via teh Mycentsys pro app, in addition, all Smart gate motors have build in buzzers which will beep, should problems be detected. This beeping informs the user that oproblems are present on the gate motor, which needs to be attended to, to ensure operation of the gate motor.
• The user should count the beeps present, and the research what the beeps refers to, ie,
• 2x short beeps, mains electricity is not present.
• 3x short beeps, a low battery condition is present.

Why is my Centurion Nova transmitter not working?

• It is a new fault on the Centurion D5 Evo Smart gate motor controller cards, where the remote transmitters will work flawlessly and the next day nothing.
• Robooting the controller card can clear the fault, but this action is not guaranteed.
• A new Centurion D5 Evo controller card is needed on the gate motor system.

What does it cost to repair a Centurion Smart gate motor?

• Repairs costs are dependent on what is actually wrong with the gate motor.
• Call out fees for troubleshooting/ repairs start at R 650-00 excluding parts needed for repairs.

Can i fit a Lithium battery into my Centurion Smart gate motor?

• Centurion D3 & D5 Evo Smart gate motors can be fitted with Lithium batteries, provided that the battery charging voltage is set between 14,4 and 14,6 volts dc, which will allow for the fully charging of the lithium battery.
• Centurion D6, D10, D10 Turbo and Centurion D20 battery charging voltage cannot be adjusted to assist with lithium battery charging functions.

Can i run my Centurion D5 Evo Smart gate motor off 2x 12 volt batteries?

• There is not enough space inside the gate motor unless modifications are made to the plastic controller card holder.
• Smart Gates have done this where a need was present. 2x Litium batteries were fitted inside the gate motor.
• The 2x lithium batteries were connected in parallel with each other.
• The battery charging voltage was also set to 14.20 volts dc.

How long will my gate motor battery last?

• There are 3x types of batteries which you can use in your centurion Smart sliding gate motor.
• Battery life depends on age, usage and charging frequencies.
• Normal 12 volt 7 amp lead acid batteries are used in Centurion Smart sliding gate motors. The lifespan of a normal lead acid battery is around 12 to 18 months. No warrantees on lead acid batteries exists.
• Gel batteries are also used in Centurion Smart sliding gates, their lifespan is also 12 to 18 months. No warrantees on gel batteries exists.
• Lithium batteries can also be used in Centurion Smart sliding gate motor systems. Lithium batteries have a guarantee of 12 months and should last around 24 months, this is dependent on discharging cycles and depths.

How do i place my Centurion Smart gate motor onto manual?

• First step is to take the factory supplied gate motor key.
• The key number is 198, but the whole key number is 60198.
• The gate motor has a rubber grommet and it needs to be pulled open.
• The gate motor key is placed horisontally into the lock.
• The key is then turned 90 degrees ani clock wise.
• The gate motor door can now be pulled open 90 degrees.Â
• This will place the gate motor onto the manual position.
• To place the gate motor in gear, just reverse your actions.

Can i replace my Smart gate motor batteries?

• It is advised, that a fully trained Centurion Smart gate motor installer replaces the batteries inside your gate motor.
• Centurion Smart gate motors are not reversed polarity protected, thus you could burn your gate motor controller card.
• A trained Centurion Smart gate motor installer will check and adjust your gate motor battery charging voltage to suit the batteries fitted inside your Centurion Smart gate motor.

How does one stop a Centurion Smart gate motor from being stolen?

• Centurion Smart sliding gate motors should always be fitted with anti theft brackets, but such bracket will not always prevent a theft from occuring.
• Anti theft brackets should be locked at all times.
• Engraving the gate motor serial number onto the gate motor with the clients contact details, can also be seen as a deterrent of a possible theft.

Does my Centurion Smart gate motor need oil, if so where do i check the oil level?

• All Centurion Smart sliding gate motors are factory filled with oil. There is no oil level indicator on a Centurion Smart sliding gate motor.
• Should you see, oil leaking from the gate motor, then you should immediately seek professional assistance to minimise the risk of damage to your gate motor gearbox system.

Can i upgrade from a centurion D5 Smart Evo to a D6 Smart?

• Yes one can upgrade between Smart gate motors. The anti theft brackets are different from each other, so this should also be considered.
• The Centurion Smart D3, Centurion Smart D5 Evo and Centurion D6 Smart all use the same steel base plate, thus swopping out Smart gate motors can be done easily.

Which rack is better, steel or nylon?

Nylon/ Razz rack:

•  Nylon/ Razz rack is known for quiet operation in sliding gate motor systems.
• Nylon/ Razz rack should only be used to automate very light steel sliding gates, which are straight.
• Our Africa sun does cause Nylon/ Razz rack to become brittle and cause teeth to break off, which leads to a malfunctioning sliding gate motor.
• Nylon/ Razz rack is not designed to allow one to follow the contour of the gate track.
• Nylon/ Razz rack needs to be replaced, when it starts to become brittle.

Steel rack:

• Steel rack is known to be louder on steel sliding gate systems.
• Steel rack can be used with very light steel sliding gates to the biggest/ heaviest steel sliding gate systems. Steel sliding gates, do not need to be straight, when using steel rack.
• Steel rack can be welded into place, in order to follow the contour of the concrete track.
• Steel rack needs to be painted, to prevent rust from forming.
• Steel rack does not need to be changed, as steel rack will outlast any sliding gate motor at least 5 to 1.
• To install a steel rack, one must be well versed in the art of steel welding.

What is the best platform, to mount a Smart gate motor?

• Concrete slabs are well used in the installation of Centurion Smart sliding gate motors.
• Concrete platforms do not allow plenty of leeway in gate motor installations.
• Steel base plates, mounted on concrete platforms & welded into position, allows for a much better Centurion Smart gate motor installation.
• The steel base plates used to create a steel platform onto which the gate motor is mounted is a 240x350x4mm steel plate.

Centurion Smart sliding gate motors requires certain aspects which pertains to installations of the Centurion Smart sliding gate motor systems.

These requirements must be met in order to allow for trouble free and smooth operation of the Centurion Smart sliding gate motor systems.

Steel sliding gate systems:

• Steel sliding gate systems must be free running in both directions and no obstruction conditions should be present on the fully closed and fully open position.
• Steel sliding gate wheels should be fitted to steel sliding gates which allows for a balanced steel sliding gate system.
• Steel sliding gate wheel bearings should be in a good/ free running condition.
• Steel sliding gates must have the correct end stop systems, which will prevent the steel sliding gate from derailing at any point in time when operated via a automated gate motor system, or when operated manually.
• Plastic roller guide systems must be free running and securely mounted in such a way, that prevents the steel sliding gate system to loose guidance.

Centurion Smart gate motor systems:

• The Centurion Smart sliding gate motors should be mounted on solid platforms, these platforms can consist of solid concrete block systems which have been casted.
• The drawback of a casted concrete block system is that it needs time to set & harden and thus one needs to return to site in order to conclude the Centurion Smart gate motor installation.
• The Centurion Smart gate motor steel base plate is then bolted down into the concrete block system by ways of 4x M10 rawl bolts or 4x M10 x90mm coach screw systems.
• Steel base plate systems, which is around 350mm in length, 240mm wide and 4mm thick can also be used as platforms onto which Centurion Smart gate motors can be mounted. The Centurion Smart gate motor steel base plate is then welded onto the steel platform. This type of installation is quick, fast and reliable when one is well versed in welding steel.
• 76×76 mm square tubings or 76×38 mm rectangular steel tubing can also be used to create a steel platform onto which a Centurion Smart gate motor steel base plate can be welded.
• There are no draw backs when steel platforms are used onto which a Centurion Smart gate motor system is mounted, apart from the art of steel welding.
• All Centurion Smart gate motors should be secured with all of the supplied steel bolts, nuts, adjuster screws, washers and spring washer systems. Using all of the supplied steel bolts will allow for a Centurion Smart gate motor to be secured down completely and such gate motor will have no movement which can create obstruction conditions.
• All electrical supply cables on Centurion Smart gate motor systems should be set in trench systems and conduit pipe systems. Electrical wire of 1mm in diameter is prefered. No electrical supply wires should be have any joints in any trench systems.
• Only very small and straight steel sliding gates should be fitted with plastic Razz rack.
• Tek screws are commonly used to secure plastic rack to steel sliding gate systems. Tek screws should be used at every opening on the Razz rack system.
• Bigger size steel sliding gates and banana type steel sliding gates should be fitted with steel rack systems which will allow for long life operation conditions.
• Steel rack support brackets should be spaced according to steel gate size, extra steel brackets should be welded on stop / start section to prevent flexing of steel rack systems.
• All rack systems must be spaced accordingly to factory specifications.
• Any Centurion Smart gate motor installer should be well versed in steel welding. Stick welding is a art and it is not taught in a matter of months.
• All Razz rack/ Steel rack systems should be supported where the Centurion Smart gate motor rack passes beyond the steel sliding gate system.
• These steel support posts normally consists of 30x30mm steel angle iron, 40x40mm steel angle iron or even steel flat bar systems. Smaller square tubing is also used as support brackets.
• All electrical wire connections should be secured firmly into the various areas. No screw should be overtightened at any point.
• Battery charging voltage on the Centurion D3 Smart and Centurion D5 Evo Smart gate motors must be set according to the battery type and charging voltage specifications of the battery.
• When all of the above requirements have been met, then the Centurion Smart sliding gate motor system will continue to operate without fault for years to come.
